BTL are proud to welcome Cardiff University to the growing Surpass Community.

Cardiff University has demonstrated its commitment to further enhancing the student experience through technology by taking inspiration from other HE institutions and selecting BTL as the provider of their assessment platform.

The School of Biosciences, with its reputation for excellence in research and teaching innovation, will lead the way for Cardiff with its adoption of Surpass. The research conducted by the School contributes to the underlying biological mechanisms of life and disease, seeking to deliver new solutions with major economic, societal and environmental impact. Research-led teaching inspires new generations, with graduates equipped with the skills and understanding needed to contribute to research, the knowledge-based economy and wider society.

The University has already made significant investment in providing students with a state-of-the-art environment including a new e-Learning and e-Assessment facility, making it fitting that they have chosen the best in assessment technology to ensure their population of over 2000 students receive the best possible assessment experience.

Utilising the innovative functionality in Surpass to transition traditionally paper-based assessments to on-screen promises to bring significant benefits to the school as well as added value for students, including process efficiencies, decreasing marking turnaround times and helping to meet a growing demand for immediate feedback, and enhancing the overall assessment experience.

The range of functionality available in Surpass will also provide opportunities to explore new and different ways of testing.

“I am confident that the Surpass system will enable us to build on our reputation for innovative teaching, and to continually improve the learning experience for all students at the School of Biosciences.”

Professor Jim Murray, Head of the School of Biosciences

“We are delighted to welcome the Cardiff University School of Biosciences to Surpass’s growing Higher Education Community. We’re excited to have such a forward-thinking school on board who are dedicated to providing students with the best technologies to support their learning.

Jim Crawford, Business Development Director at BTL
