NBCC is the premier credentialing body for counselors, ensuring that those who become board certified have achieved the highest standard of practice through education, examination, supervision, experience, and ethical guidelines. By becoming members of the Surpass Community, NBCC joins other organisations in their use of Surpass for the creation of their prestigious examinations.
NBCC’s flagship credential is the National Certified Counselor (NCC) certification. The NCC demonstrates that the counselor meets high national standards for the practice of counseling and is committed to continued professional development and skills expansion. There are currently over 67,000 NCCs in more than 40 countries.
By transitioning to the Surpass platform, NBCC will benefit from advanced item authoring and banking technology to streamline the development of their examinations. This includes tools to efficiently manage subject matter experts (SMEs) during the item writing and review process, and LOFT (Linear-on-the-Fly Testing) functionality for the creation of balanced test forms against a test blueprint.
As well as leveraging Surpass for its item banking capabilities, Surpass will enable NBCC to export test content to its existing, widely used third-party test driver. The export functionality demonstrates the versatility and flexibility that the Surpass platform offers within the certification and licensure sector.
