WJEC have pushed the boundaries of onscreen summative assessment, creating some engaging and innovative question content which has been delivered in high stakes summative assessments.

The computer based assessments we have developed with BTL [providers of Surpass] enable us to assess students’ skills and knowledge in a robust way that reflects and prepares them for the workplace of today.

AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians)

When we saw Surpass we were really excited about it! It was a fully web-based solution. It didn’t require that users install anything on their machines, so that made it much easier to use and all the features were designed to be intuitive. Without any formal training, an item author could go in and start using Surpass to create items. That was really a key reason why we selected it.

NBME (National Board of Medical Examiners)

BTL [Providers of Surpass] are flexible and sensitive to end user needs; they have developed a unique assessment tool in the Advanced Question Type, combining the functionality of word-processing and computational aspects of spread sheeting. They work hard to meet the customer's suggested improvements and changes and can be relied upon to work with both customer and end-user feedback to improve the product.

ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales)

We chose to work with Surpass as it had a great reputation with our Centres and they provide a lot of flexibility in the way exams can be set up and delivered, allowing us to offer a broad range of assessment options. We’ve particularly found their online help and support really useful, which includes on-screen prompts which are very easy to navigate.

ABC Awards (Part of Skills & Education Group)

A key factor in our selection of Surpass was how clean and simple the authoring environment is. Our Clinicians, who produce our question items, do not have time to learn a complex IT process, but we knew we could just give them access to the tool and they would have no problems creating questions.
