See Amy McAlpine and Sophie Grogan from the Surpass team explain the new features and updates coming to the Surpass Platform in the 26.1 release.
Key features
Test Development
- If Surpass Copilot is enabled, you can now search for items using natural language, making it quicker and easier to find relevant content across different subjects. You can also control how closely results match your query, helping you move from broader searches to more precise results, saving time and uncovering items you might otherwise miss.
- Surpass Copilot can automatically detect similar items within your item lists and provide a clear comparison analysis, allowing you to quickly understand how they relate. You can then mark items as test form enemies directly from the Item Lists screen, reducing manual review effort and helping maintain the quality and integrity of your assessments.
What data is included in semantic search?
The semantic search will search through all text within the item content
Do I need permissions?
Yes. Copilot needs to be enabled for this to work, specifically on the subjects you have access to. Also, you will need permission for semantic search. Then for the enemy items, you will need to have access to the Item lists.
In our organisation, we need to ensure we work within our Al governance policy. If we use this search, will our item data be processed securely?
Surpass Copilot uses Microfost Azure Open AI service, and no data inputted into Surpass Copilot is ever stored by Azure Open AI.
Does the search work across all subjects?
Semantic search will only search across subjects which you have permission to access and where Surpass Copilot is enabled.
We’ve had a look at this on a previous demo session. Why are some results unexpected?
Semantic search prioritizes conceptual similarity, not an exact match.
