Surpass pre-release webinar for 24.3

By 19 September 2024September 25th, 2024Pre-Release Webinar

See Ashleigh Whittle and Georgie Jones from the Surpass team explain the new features and updates coming to the Surpass Platform in the 24.3 release .

Key features

Test Delivery

  • A new secure browser delivery method will be available. This will allow tests to be sat in a locked-down environment online, through their internet browser.

Setup

  • You can now assign a custom amount of extra time (% of total time) to candidates with reasonable adjustments.
  • When creating a new subject, you can now choose to copy the tag structure from an existing subject. There is an option to include the existing tag values, or to copy just the structure to let item authors create and add their own tag values after subject setup.

Item Authoring

  • You can now use the new ‘Duplicate Items’ bulk update option to duplicate a large amount of items simultaneously, saving you time.

Accessibility

  • Alt text can now be added to the Provider Logo and Client Logo of a test profile to ensure logos that appear to candidates in the test driver are accessible.
  • You can now disable highlighting and strikethrough as features in the test driver, increasing the customizability of the candidate’s experience.

When duplicating a large amount of items, is there a way of removing ‘copy of’ from the item name?

We have made the decision to label duplicated items with ‘copy of’ to indicate the difference between the duplicated and original item.

How do custom reasonable adjustments interact with the standard and maximum adjustments at the test form level?

When choosing a candidates amount of extra time, you can chose from either the standard adjustment, maximum adjustment or the custom reasonable adjustment to allow a spesific amount of extra time.

If the internet drops when sitting in secure browser, does the exam stop?

In this situation, the exam would pause and the candidate would disconnect. From here, the candidate can re-log into the exam using their keycode and resume from where they left off.

Do all item types work in secure browser mode, e.g. File Attach where you might be downloading or uploading files?

Secure browser mode is limited to specific item types and exam types, with File Attach not currently being supported. Please contact your account manager for advice on your specific use cases.

Can screen readers, e.g. JAWs, be used with the new secure browser?

JAWs is not compatible with the new secure browser, as this mode prevents candidates from cheating on exams by stopping other software from running at the same time as the exam.
