See Amy McAlpine and Sophie Grogan from the Surpass team explain the new features and updates coming to the Surpass Platform in the 25.4 release.
Key features
Test Development
- Export Item Lists/Item Search: With the appropriate permissions, you can now export item content, attributes, and tags from Item Search and Item Lists to a CSV file. This gives greater flexibility and efficiency in how item data is used and shared outside of the Surpass Platform.
Media Libary
- The Media Library has been completely redesigned for a cleaner, more intuitive experience.
- You can now view detailed information about selected media, including file size and dimensions, helping you manage assets more effectively.
- Improved search and filter options make it quicker to locate the right media.
- Media now appear with thumbnails when authoring items, so you can easily identify the correct files.
- With the advanced media library licence, you can also add optional keywords to media for better searchability and visibility of items linked to those files (paid feature).
Task Management
- Greater control over task reviews: A new setting allows lead assignees to review submissions before they are finalised. This gives you more oversight and ensures quality before updates are applied to your subject.
Does the new Media Library replace the old one for everyone, or is it an add-on I need to enable?
As part of the 25.4 release, it replaces the old library as part of the core platform upgrade, no separate enablement required. However, Keyword and Referenced by features require an additional licence, please discuss with your Customer Success Manager.
Is there a limit to how many times an item can move between assignee and lead (review cycles)?
No, it can go through that cycle as many times as it needs, until the lead assignee is happy and then the item can be submitted.
Is there a limit to how many media items I can download at once?
Yes there is a limit, with bulk downloads being capped at 25 items. Multiple groups cannot be downloaded in a single action.
How do due dates and ‚Task Completed‘ status work with reviews?
Once the item is submitted by the lead assignee, that will then show that the item is completed. So until all of the items have been submitted, the task will not show as complete.
So we don’t need to use the Python script workaround anymore to export item data?
No, the new export feature is built into the Platform, so you can select the items that you want and download the data directly from either an item search or if you’ve created a list of those items.
