{"id":8042,"date":"2022-11-15T10:13:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-15T15:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/surpass.com\/?p=8042"},"modified":"2022-11-21T05:06:54","modified_gmt":"2022-11-21T10:06:54","slug":"surpass-pre-release-webinar-for-12-31","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/surpass.com\/en-gb\/news\/2022\/surpass-pre-release-webinar-for-12-31\/","title":{"rendered":"Surpass pre-release webinar for 12.31"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Surpass team hosted the 12.31 pre-release webinar, on Tuesday 15 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ari Flavell from the Surpass team and host Ben Brady explained the new features and updates in the 12.31 release, including the exciting Advanced Essay mode, alongside usability and accessibility improvements for Surpass users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch the recording here, and read on for an overview of the key features that were discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"key-features\">Key features <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"item-authoring\">Item Authoring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Advanced Essay item now allows for bespoke layout and formatting of questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Media file types (e.g. video) can now be added to items as a shared resource between multiple questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All Item key notes are now in the right-hand panels, for a better user experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Azeri language has been added to Surpass, bringing the total number of languages supported to 63.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"item-authoring\">Tasks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Test administrators can now add feedback to packaged computer-marked tests, for improved user experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Usability enhancements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Notepad tool joins an expanding panel of candidate tools (such as callipers and calculator) and allows test-takers to make notes during the exam without being marked on these.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"item-authoring\">Accessibility&nbsp;improvements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ongoing accessibility improvements are helping to improve the test experience for everyone.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Webinar discussions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can skip to these timecodes on the video to watch each topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2m 52: About the development of the Advanced Essay item type<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4m 52: Demonstration of the Advanced Essay item type<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8m 32: Media file types can be added as a shared resource<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>11m 38: Item settings in right-hand panel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>15m 44: The Notepad tool<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Is the Notepad able to be moved around the screen, like the calculator?<\/p><cite>Yes, it can.<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Which item types is the Notepad available for?<\/p><cite>The Notepad is available with any item that allows you to add a tool.<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Can you change the name of Notepad?<\/p><cite>Yes, you can do this.<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Can you amend the toolbar available to the student in the Notepad?<\/p><cite>No, all formatting options are available to candidates in Notepad.<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Can we add screenshots to the Notepad?<\/p><cite>This isn&#8217;t currently possible, as images aren&#8217;t supported in this tool.<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Does the Notepad allow marks to be allocated to the learner for their working out?<\/p><cite>Not in terms of computer marking, but for human marking a mark could be manually added on if desired. <\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Does each item in the test have a new (blank) notepad, or would they be able to see their notes from question 1 when they open the notepad in question 2?<\/p><cite>Each item has a new notepad, as it\u2019s added to the item individually, as with other tools.
