International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) Conference

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC®) is partnering with the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) to host its 48th Annual Conference, to be held on September 24 – 29, 2023 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. 

The IAEA provides a global forum for those involved in all forms of educational assessment, in primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities. Its members include examination bodies, university departments, research organisations and government agencies from more than 50 countries.  

The conference will present an opportunity for industry thought leaders, training providers and practitioners to explore ongoing and recent developments in education, around the theme Digitalising Assessments and Credentials. Some 350-400 delegates are expected.

  • Monday September 25, 4.10pm: Personalised assessments in Wales: A case study of on-screen adaptive formative national assessment. Jim Crawford with Hannah Rowe from Alphaplus
  • Tuesday September 26, 11.30am: The Utility vs. Usability Debate: How to Design Intuitive, Technology-Enhanced Item Types without Compromising on Validity. Paul Muir with Dr James Young at CXC  
  • Tuesday September 26, 1.35pm: The IAEA Symposium: Artificial & Data Intelligence in Assessment. The session, presented by Jim Crawford, will cover the broad question,  “How is Artificial and Data Intelligence Influencing Assessment Philosophies, Strategies and Practices?”
