Innovation Demonstration: Generative AI – We all need a Copilot

4 March | 12.15pm

With the explosive and transformational impact of generative AI in late 2022 on the education and assessment industry, our sector has been grappling with how we can harness the power of this new technology, while remaining cautious of its inherent risks and issues

For this innovations demo, we would like to demonstrate our latest innovation that marries the experience of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with the speed, efficiency, and innovation of generative AI. Our initial release of ‘Copilot’ works in perfect harmony with SMEs, augmenting their expertise and knowledge, while effortlessly generating high-quality distractors, and the rationale for each one. By automating this aspect of test development, SMEs will be able to allocate more of their time and expertise to other crucial tasks, such as item review and content validation

Our AI-powered toolset works alongside your SMEs and ensures the highest standards of data security, transforming the way you author test items and saving time (and money) throughout the process, without any loss of quality.

What makes our ‘Copilot’ offering unique in the industry is it is a community-driven initiative with initial features and subsequent development roadmap decided by our Customer Advisory Board (CAB). Come and join our innovation demonstration, learn more about how we “embrace with caution” the power and potential of generative AI, and find out how you can help drive the future of assessment.

Everything you always wanted to know about AI… but were afraid to ask!

4 March | 1.20pm

Artificial intelligence, or AI for short, is a hot topic these days—so hot that it generates polarized reactions across the testing and assessment industry. Some reactions are excitement and dreams of enhanced productivity and efficiency in how we develop and deliver tests. Other reactions are of concerns and warnings as to the risks associated with AI tools, especially as they relate to security, data, intellectual property, and cheating concerns. But are there not shades of grey in considering the opportunities and threats AI bring to our industry? Building on the ATP Security Committee white paper on AI, at this panel discussion, we will outline and dissect concerns and opportunities related to the use of AI tools, including generative AI, both from a test development and delivery and security perspective. We will challenge our thinking, discuss pros and cons, and engage the audience in thought-provoking discussions on security considerations related to the use of AI. Our promise: This thought-provoking panel discussion will lead attendees to question their thinking, push their limits, ask the tough questions, and create opportunities for further exchange and conversations during and after the conference.

Peas in a Pod discussion: It’s the year 2034 – Was AI the answer?

4 March | 4.10pm

In this Peas in a Pod session, we transport ourselves to the Year 2034 where renowned experts in the application of technology in assessment will guide conference attendees through an immersive experience of envisioning the possibilities and consequences of an AI-dominated assessment world, as we explore the culmination of over 10 years since the birth of OpenAI’s Chat GPT and use our crystal ball to imagine “what if?”

Through engaging discussions, speculative scenarios and interactive exercises, we will critically examine the profound effects we expect AI will have had on education and assessment.

Our discussion will drive us to explore how can we responsibly shape the future of AI. We will delve into the importance of ethical frameworks, regulation, and responsible development of AI systems. We will explore the need for transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in AI technologies.

And finally we will decide what do WE want 2034 to look like?

Prepare to challenge your assumptions, expand your perspective, and contemplate the profound implications of AI on our collective future. Whether you are an educator, technologist, policymaker, or simply curious about the possibilities that lie ahead, this session will provide you with unique insights, inspiration, and a platform for thought-provoking discussions.

And maybe we’ll bury our ‘conclusions’ in a time capsule and open them at ATP 2034? Now that would be fun…

Multi-vendor partnerships: Better together

5 March| 9.40am

Certification and licensure boards have a myriad of options when it comes to choosing vendors in support of their examinations. These sponsor organizations can choose to work with one vendor or select multiple vendors with which to work. There are pros and cons to each solution, and no one solution is the right one for everyone. This session will uncover some of the benefits of working with multiple partners, each specializing in one or just a couple aspects of the assessment solution. We will also cover potential drawbacks of a multi-vendor arrangement and suggest ways in which to mitigate those. Additionally, we will touch on the potential challenges of switching vendors and some of the mitigation strategies to eliminate or lessen the impact of that change.

We expect the audience to come away from the session with a more comprehensive perspective on multi-vendor solutions, where organizations share solutions, embrace change, and are better together for it.

Securing the future of testing: Trends, challenges, and strategies for protecting the integrity of assessment

5 March | 4.10pm

The panel discussion will focus on discussing the evolving trends, challenges, and strategies for protecting test security. We will present on the key trends, challenges and developments in the testing sector in the last 12 months, as part of the kick-off to the session. Next, utilizing the experience of leaders in the test development and delivery field, our panel will address key questions on:

  • Generative AI: How do we react, and is it a friend or foe for our testing programs?
  • Utilizing best-in-class security solutions: What does this mean for my testing program?
  • Data forensics and post-exam analytics: harnessing the power of data to stay one step ahead.

The panel will explore how all these (and more) play a part in a strategy of securing the validity of assessments. Participants/conference attendees will hear from leaders in this field, learn how current trends impact testing (and how to deal with it), and be able to question the panel on how they might apply it to their own situation.
